General Information

Lift Tickets

Stevens Pass provides us tickets at a discounted price if prepurchased. However, purchasing them through our program is not required. For example, if you have a season's pass at Stevens, all you would need to pay for is transportation and the registration fee. The prices are $25 for children (12 or younger) and $30 for adults (13 or older). The pre-purchased tickets are actually cards that you carry with you in your coat pocket  with the assigned dates on them. Since they are not vouchers for tickets, they cannot be refunded.

If you cannot make a ski trip you signed up for, there are no refunds.  However, you do have the opportunity to sell your spot to other students if you find you cannot make a ski trip for whatever reason.

Students who decide to attend a trip at the last minute will need to purchase their own tickets or find another student who is cancelling for that day.  Use the bulletin board in the gym hall for placing notices of tickets for sale or wanted.

Transportation

All participants in the Ski Program are required to take the bus.  The cost for the bus is $40 per day.  Transportation costs have nearly doubled this year.  I will try to accommodate each class sitting together as much as possible.  But I may have to be creative to fit everyone in the three 56 passenger buses.  I ask that you be patient with me on this.

Lessons

Lessons are provided by Stevens Ski School. They are located directly to the right of the Big Chief chair lift. Lessons are for 5 weeks, beginning on our first trip. The cost is $180 for 13 and older and $160 for 12 and under. We are provided a discount for lessons as a 5 -week package. If you do not want to take lessons for 5 weeks, you need to make your own arrangements for lessons. For information on arranging your own lessons, please contact Stevens Pass at  206.812.4510.

Rental Gear

Rental gear is provided by Stevens for the entire duration of the program. If you wish to rent for only a few days, you need to make your own arrangements either through Stevens or with the company of your choice. Stevens renters must be fill out the rental form prior to that first ski trip. Rental cost for the entire 7 weeks is $119 for youth and $155 for adults.

Helmets are not required by the school or Stevens. You can rent helmets from Stevens if you wish, but not through the program. You will have to fill out the forms at Stevens and the helmets are rented for the day only. That means, you will have to rent the helmet and return it every time you go up. It is a hassle, but that is Stevens policy. I highly recommend that you purchase your own helmet and use it all the time.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available for those who qualify. If you need financial aid, please contact Tee-Ta Walker in the Admission Office.

One-Time Participant

For those of you who wish to participate on a week-by-week basis, you can still do so.  You will need to fill out the Registration form and Liability form.  However, you will not be able to purchase lift tickets, take lessons or rent equipment.  You only pay for the Registration fee (one time per year) and the transportation fee for the dates you attend.  Remember, all participants must take the bus in order to participate.  It is important to have all required documents and payments to Ms. Yara by Wednesday of the scheduled trip.  If you wish to attend another trip, just inform Ms. Yara of the desired date and pay $40 for the bus.  You do not have to turn in another form.

Non-U Prep Guests

If you have a friend or family member who is not at U Prep, they are welcome to register for the program.  They will need to go through the regular registration process like anyone else.  But remember, they also need to adhere to our school policies at all times (see Ski Program Guidelines).  If they are 10 or younger, an adult must supervise them at all times.
