Stevens Safety Guideline

Know your responsibility code - It's posted on lift towers and on trail maps.

Abbreviated Responsibility Code:
  1. Stay in control - avoid people and things.
  2. People ahead have the right of way.
  3. Stop where you are seen - don't block the run.
  4. When starting or merging, yield to others.
  5. Brakes or leashes must be used on your gear.
  6. Obey all signs and closures - READ THEM!
  7. Know how to use lifts before you get on.
TERRAIN PARK:
  • Enter the park through gates.
  • Avoid closed jumps and rails - they're closed for a reason.
  • Check out features before you go off them.
  • Use spotters when landing isn't visible from above.
  • Be polite. Call out your drop.
ACCIDENTS/COLLISIONS:
  • Mark an injury/accident site with crossed skis or a snowboard (take snowboard off). Person sitting with snowboard on is normal. A person sitting with the snowboard off is not normal.
  • Report accidents to lift operators/ski patrol/any other employee at Stevens Pass. Then STAY PUT! Ski patrol may need more info from you.
  • If involved in a collision, exchange name and address with other person/people. THIS IS STATE LAW!
SLOW ZONES:
  • Slow down in these areas--lots of beginners and small kids about.
  • It's not about Control, it's about Speed.
FAMILY ZONES:
  • For families of different abilities. Watch for small kids and give them lots of room. Use other runs if possible.
PLEASE BE SAFE!
